The Rotary Club of Saint Joseph met today at the beautiful Albrecht Kemper Museum of Art. There were a total of about 30 people at the meeting
Black Bowls donations for this quarter (7/1 through 9/30) go to the St. Joseph Safety and Health Council. This supports their educational programs such as Safety Acres and Safety Town. Members can contribute on our Square site online or bring the cash to meetings.

Shoes for Orphan Souls Update (for 2026-2027 Campaign):
Joan Brewer has volunteered to be our club's Cheerleader for this year. Amy Spaeth and Erik McGuire agreed to assist. Our goal will be to find ways to engage the club membership throughout the year for another successful shoes drive. As of this week, there are somewhere around 260 pairs of shoes collected so far this year.
Ralph Schank shared this message about our 9/26 St. Joseph Marathon Service Project volunteer opportunity:
If you have been reading your bulletin or have attended a meeting lately you know that I have been asking for volunteers to help on September 26 at the St. Joseph Marathon. We have participated each of the four years of the marathon and it has grown into something special for our community. It's a point of pride that we as Rotarians are part of this event.
Our job is pretty simple. We are stationed at each intersection along one mile of the route from Mark Twain School to Bartlett Park to ensure that traffic on the cross-streets does not enter the route. Runners arrive at our mile at around 8:00 a.m. and finish around 11:00 a.m. If you can help during that time, please let me or Shelly Hulet know. Several volunteers are bringing family members to help that morning, and we encourage you to do the same. Time is short and we still need a few more volunteers. So, plan on bringing a chair and maybe a friend while we cheer on the runners while making it safe for them to participate in the 4th Annual St. Joseph Marathon.

Rotary Leadership Institute is offering a virtual Part 1 (2 nights) on Tuesday, September 29 and Thursday, October 1 (from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. both nights) and also on Tuesday, 10/19 and Thursday, 10/21. Powell Park sits at the intersection of 10th and Powell at the site of the former Sisters Hospital. Led by Rotarian Tim Curry, the Rotary Club of Saint Joseph has breathed new life into this neighborhood park.
The final results are in for the 2026 Purple Pinkie Polio Eradication Fundraiser, and I am thrilled to share that together we raised $1,200,788 for Rotary's End Polio Now campaign.
Every dollar will support the fight to eradicate polio worldwide. Thanks to the dedication of Rotary members, partners, and supporters, we are now down to just two endemic countries. The finish line is in sight.

The Missouri Western State University Foundation helps drive successful educational outcomes for the University.
Among the many funds of the Foundation is the Eastside Rotary Scholarship Fund (!) This fund provides around $2,000 per year to a student (non-traditional) and stays with the student until they leave school.
There are many areas of need that the MoWest Foundation supports, to include scholarships, athletics, an annual fund, academics, and an endowment.
