The Rotary Club of Saint Joseph gathered with a fair crowd of around 30 today, Wednesday, May 13 at the beautiful Albrecht Kemper Museum of Art.
Spanky and Buckwheat's catered a spread of barbecued chicken, green beans, rolls, garden salad, and polarizing nacho-cheese doused mashed potatoes.
It was great to see Rotarian Jeanne Chavez back at the meeting again. She is currently undergoing outpatient dialysis.
Please keep Rotarian Amy Ryan in your thoughts and prayers. President Ron reported that her father passed away recently.
Prospective member Greg Smith (sponsored by Louie DeLeon) was in attendance, as was prospective member David Bolander (Don Gladhart). This is the second of two times that we will run David's name in the bulletin prior to induction.
Black Bowls donations for this quarter (4/1 to 6/30) go to Camp Geiger Scout camperships. These support Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA Scouts to attend summer camp, with campership awards reviewed by a committee based on financial need.
Members can contribute on our Square site online or bring the cash to meetings.
Tim Curry shared an update about the downtown revitalization district grant that the club completed last year. The peace poles now have plaques next to them. The languages of the poles represent languages spoken by people who built our city over the years.
The old Sisters Hospital park (10th and Powell) is also in need of a work day, and Tim will send some info about a date for Rotarians to help with this. He reported that the Parks Department mowed over some flowers, but the park does look good. It is Henry (dog) McGuire's favorite place to walk in our fair city.
