District grant completed!
Thank you to life unlimited for hosting the club at their new facility today
The Rotary Club of Saint Joseph assembled with a fair of about 25 this Wednesday, June 3 at Life Unlimited. Joining the club today were Nathan Spencer and Ryan Hicks of the North Kansas City Club, as well as Andrea Black, Chief Programs Officer for Life Unlimited.
Life Unlimited provided a HyVee catered boxed lunch spread, consisting of sandwiches, chips, apples, and cookies. The cookies were quite the rage.
Black Bowls donations for this quarter (4/1 to 6/30) go to Camp Geiger Scout camperships. We forgot to bring the bowls to our offsite meeting, but Brendon collected a few bucks anyway. These support Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA Scouts to attend summer camp, with campership awards reviewed by a committee based on financial need. Members can contribute on our Square site online or bring the cash to meetings.
Food at the dinner will be provided by Chaun's Catering.
Meals on Wheels delivery assignments:
June 4 will be Susan Campbell with a co-worker and Will Woods with Brendon Clark.
June 11 will be Barb Burns with Tammy Rivera and Heather Shearin (solo).
Shoes for Orphan Souls Update (for 2026-2027 Campaign):
We have approximately 57 pairs of shoes so far, unofficially.

The Annual Fund-SHARE exists to empower Rotary clubs and districts with implementing impactful district grants, global grants, and scholarships.
Participating in the Rotary Foundation board is an easy way to contribute as we close out the 2025-2026 Rotary year. Our club will match up to $144 per Rotary year for all members who contribute.
Or if you prefer to send a check, we can assist with the details of this. Please talk to Don or Erik if you have any questions.
The Rotary Club of Saint Joseph's 2025-2026 District Grant project has been to install an accessible outdoor area for the new Day Program at Life Unlimited's St. Joseph location.
Here is the latest status of the Rotary Foundation Board. As of today, we have sold 173 of the 200 squares and have just 27 remaining. The final push!
1 Square is $50. 3 squares are $100. 7 squares are $200.
The pot is up to $5,200. 1/2 goes to the winner (drawn at the 6/18 Anniversary Party, need not be present to win) and the other 1/2 goes to the Rotary Foundation Annual Fund in the names of the purchasers.
Please let Erik know if you would like to purchase any squares or any additional squares, or perhaps some squares for a favorite charity or family member. We can bill you or you can bring funds to Rotary.

The following Rotarians shared Happy Bucks at this week's meeting:
Jeanne Chavez is now off of dialysis!
Heather Weddle enjoyed the cookies we had at lunch
Jim Ingle was celebrating Rosalie Ingles 35th birthday!?
Susan Campbell wasn't happy about it but had her copper roof stolen yesterday morning off of her office... irony... Jim Ingle and Ron Auxier build that building
Bill McCammon is headed to Florida for 2 weeks
Skye Pournazari's doctor stopped her poison ivy from spreading
Ron Auxier paid $1 for $100 worth of a story about his granddaughter's traffic ticket that somehow involved Judge Bolander but it didn't really involve Judge Bolander because it was in Clay County
This Week's Program
Life Unlimited's Chief Programs Officer, Andrea Black, provided some updates about the new Dayhab program that is opening soon in St. Joseph at the location we had lunch at today.
There are some nice areas for the individuals to use, including a kitchen with lots of microwaves, a cushy reading area, a game room, personal lockers and an outdoor space.
They hope to start operating the day program this month and have 3 individuals so far. It takes a while to get up and running.
Life Unlimited also offers other services in St. Joseph and Northwest Missouri, to include Consumer Directed Care, assistive technology, nursing home transition, and more. To learn more, please visit their website at https://www.meril.org/.
